Hey everyone! Wow, what a week! I have had so much going on? How about you? Do you ever feel overwhelmed, like you just can’t keep up? Does your fitness and nutrition tend to fall by the wayside? How much of a priority do you make your health and wellness when you feel stretched for time? Here are 3 fitness tips that will help you maintain a healthy mind and body while you live a big, busy, and beautiful life!

1) Be prepared- There is no such thing as “healthy” fast food, so you better pack food from home or find the one or two restaurants in your entire city that actually serve healthy, quality food. If you cannot get there 3 times a day, you’d better pack your lunch and snacks. You MUST plan in your meals and workouts. To live a life you love in a body you love, it is NOT AN OPTION to eat poorly and not workout.

2) Find foods you like and exercise you like. Face it, healthy living will not work for you if you try to eat something you hate and do something you hate every day. There are plenty of veggies and fruits and whole grains to choose from. It may take some effort on your part to find your favorite health foods, but just think of how much effort you put into getting your coffee in the morning, or finding the perfect outfit in the morning to hide the fact that you feel like crap. We go to great lengths for the things we want. All you need is the willingness to make these self improvements. Just Do It.

3) Do your day one task at a time. Be where you are. It takes a lot of energy to worry about what is not done yet or what is next. Just enjoy what you are doing now, until you are finished. Then pick the next task and enjoy it until it is also completed. This has made a huge difference in my happiness and productivity!

Are You Rock’n or Popp’n Your Work Clothes??? 

Hey everyone! Wow, yesterday I got a modeling job through my agency Sports Unlimited. It was a business clothing stock photo shoot. It was really fun but it reminded me that it is so important to feel good when you suit up for work. Unlike many, I get to wear cute, comfortable gym clothes all day, like Lululemon and Nike🙂 but most people have to dress up! I forgot how uncomfortable and awkward those clothes can be. To my surprise, however, I noticed how amazing I felt in my business clothes for the first time ever (and how typical it is, that this is the case when I no longer work in corporate America LOL)! I haven’t put those clothes on in a while, so it was actually pleasantly surprising how well they fit my body and how sleek, sexy, and fit I felt.

How many of you dread getting dressed for work each day because you feel so uncomfortable in your work clothes? Do you ever think to yourself how nice it would be to get dressed and just feel like you are rock’n any outfit you put on? Obviously we all want to look good, but the most important thing is to FEEL GOOD, and boy did I feel grrrreat yesterday. I can’t wait to see the shots!

Here are three great tips for you to look and feel great in your business clothes, or any clothes for that matter:

1) Eat a good breakfast , but avoid over eating. This meal sets the tone for your day so it’s important to get off on the right foot. Eat something that nourishes your body and gives you energy, and make sure it leaves you feeling satisfied but nice and light. If you eat a meal that does not agree with you or you eat too much, you will suffer the heavy feeling it causes, as well as bloating. Yuck! If you don’t eat breakfast at all, this can cause bloating later on in the day because your metabolism doesn’t kick in till later and then you hold on to your food longer as well as retaining more water. My favorite breakfast is a green smoothie. I put 1/3 of an organic banana, 1 tblspn of organic goji berries, 2 tblspns of organic mulberries, 1 1/2 tblspns of organic flax seeds, 1 heaping tblspn of raw, live green powder (Health Force Nutritionals, Vitamineral Greens), 1/4 cup organic, unfiltered apple juice, 1/4 cup raw, organic almond milk, 1/4 cup bottled water, and 1/4 cup of raw, organic steel-cut oats. I play with the fruits I use every couple of weeks just to keep it interesting! I just blend that up, drink it down and off I go to live each day beautifully!

2) Make sure you leave your house armed with healthy snacks to carry you through the day. Keeping your body nourished will balance out your blood sugar and keep your energy nice and consistent. It’s so important to eat healthy snacks, especially when you are a go-go-go kind of person. Otherwise you are more likely to eat a huge lunch, and not necessarily the healthiest, and walk back into work feeling way too full and crashing from the lunch binge. Even if you eat healthy, be careful not to over indulge. It’s just not comfortable to be too full. It feels heavy and makes us want to fall asleep. Some of my favorite snacks are listed on last weeks blog, “In the Raw…and Loving It!”

3) Also, it always helps to go into your day feeling sleek, sexy, and strong if you’ve been sticking to a good workout program. One of my clients said to me yesterday, that when she’s working out at least 4-5 days a week, she feels more in a routine and it’s easier to keep it that way. When she only gets in 1-2 times/week she said it’s much easier to get lazy. Therefore, make sure you keep a good, consistent routine with your workouts. When your body feels in the swing and accustomed to getting a workout in every day, it won’t want to skip a day. You’ll have to force yourself to take a rest one day. The more you go, the better you feel, and the more aware of how much better you feel on the days when you workout vs. the days that you don’t. That’ll keep you motivated for sure!!!

WHY?????? February 13, 2010


Do you ever notice how much food convenience stores stock up on? I was in a gas station “market” today and I was hit by the shocking reality that there was so much food, but it was all CRAP. They have every kind of potato chip, candy bar, soda, and even supposedly “healthy” bars. They have nothing of any real value though. WHY??? Why is it that we have so much availability to food, but almost no availability to food that is actually food, and not just complete processed junk poison? This infuriates me! We have obviously become a society that needs convenience, but this is absurd. Why don’t we see any REAL FOOD in the gas stations and convenient stores? Something MUST be done about this. We the people, need to have access to food that nourishes our bodies and minds, yet also accommodates our busy schedules. It is my dream to make this a reality. It would make me so happy to see that myself and all of you, could grab something quick, yet nutrient filled, and not processed, to fuel our lives on a daily basis if we forget to pack food from home.

Anyway, I just needed to vent this. It really upsets me that there is so much food and temptation to eat junk that basically poisons our bodies, just because we are at the mercy of time. Something has to change. I will keep you posted on what I find out, because I am on a mission to make some real changes!!!

In the Raw…and Loving It! February 11, 2010


Well as some of you may know, I have been in school at IIN , The Institute for Integrative Nutrition, since the beginning of October 2009. I am doing the distance learning program since the school is in New York. One major thing my school emphasizes is bio-individuality. You see, there are over 125 dietary theories, all can be proven effective or “right.” IIN is not there to teach us who is “good” or “bad” or “right” or “wrong.” Their main concern is that we learn about all of the different dietary theories, try them on for size, and decide for ourselves what works best for our own lives, and the lives of our clients, based on bio-individuality. Therefore, I have become fascinate with eating a RAW-Vegan diet. I may eat fish once every week or two, b ut for the most part, NO ANIMAL products in my diet. I absolutely love eating this way. I have lost almost 10 pounds and feel fantastic, which is most important of all.

I know that eating this way is not necessarily good for everyone, however, I am going to list 10 of my favorite healthy snacks, that you can blend into your day to see how they make you feel:)

1) Raw Revolution bars– buy at Trader Joes or Whole Foods

2) Pure bars– buy at Trader Joes or Whole Foods

3) 1/2 organic, raw cucumber and 1/4 cup of raw, organic mixed nuts

4) 1 small green apple with raw, organic almond or peanut butter

5) 2 stalks of organic, raw celery and raw, organic almond or peanut butter 

6) Sliced organic Cucumber, sliced organic tomato with lemon, olive oil, sea salt and chopped garlic or garlic powder

7) raw, organic sunflower seeds and dried organic cranberries mixed into a trail mix

8) 1-2 slices of lightly toasted Ezekiel bread or Ezekiel wraps dipped in organic humus

9) raw, organic kale chips or flax crackers (buy at Whole Foods) with organic humus

10) organic *blueberries, strawberries, mulberries, goji berries and bananas, mixed together with raw, organic oats and organic almond milk

These may sound extremely healthy nutty to a lot of you, but I challenge you to look for them at Trader Joes, Whole Foods, or your local health food grocery store. You’d be amazed at how good healthy can taste. Also, I use to be a sugar and carb-a-phobe, but I have since learned that if you eat the right kind of carbs and sugar, that are high quality foods, you really do not have to worry. How Bad Do You Want It? February 5, 2010

Whether it’s fat loss, muscle gain or better health…HOW BAD DO YOU WANT IT???

Do you ever get sick of hearing yourself  talk and talk about all the things you plan to do, and then never do? Or maybe you know someone like that. I am working on a big project right now, and one thing that came up at a meeting yesterday, was that gap that so many people suffer from. It’s the gap between, what we know and what we do. You probably know how to eat healthy, what to eat, what exercises to do. I mean, I know some of the most unfit people, who know what to do but just don’t do it. What’s up with this? If you know what to do, why aren’t you doing it? You must not really want to do those things or to reap the benefits from doing those things. That’s sure what it seems like right???

So the million dollar question…HOW BAD DO YOU WANT IT??? I have found in my experience, that when I really want something, I am willing to go to ANY lengths to get it. Are you willing to go to any lengths to live in a body you love, so you can feel fully expressed as your true self?

I have a client that kept saying she wanted to lose weight. She lost over 50 lbs a couple years ago, but she’d been hanging around the same weight for about a year, and so obviously she’d hit a plateau. As her trainer, it is my job to get inside of her head and figure out what is blocking her. I asked her why she was not making the choices that are in alignment with her goals. What we finally figured out was that she had a conflicting intention. She wanted to lose weight, but she was also in fear of loosing weight. She fears that if she looses the next bunch of weight, her skin will sag, her breasts will droop, and she will look old. I said to her, well how do you expect to lose weight, if you have these conflicting intentions going on. She was sending out mixed signals to the universe and the universe was not able to bring her back anything except more of where she already was, hence the plateau.

Secretly, my client was happy enough where she was to risk loosing her beautiful skin and perky breasts for the next 30 lbs of weight loss. So, therefore, she wanted to lose weight but she didn’t. That’s why she just stayed exactly the same for a whole year!!! Once we were able to dig this up and bring her awareness to it, she could make a conscious choice about what it is she really wants. I told her to just get the weight off, and then go from there, because most likely none of her fears will even happen, and meanwhile she is living in a body that could be MUCH healthier. So now that she has been able to clear that up, she is clear about what she wants and unafraid of losing the weight. I have never seen her so motivated!

It all comes down to HOW BAD DO YOU WANT IT??? If you aren’t doing what it takes, then some part of you doesn’t want it and you should take a new look at things.
